Chapter 1 The Little Ring

On the stage of the competence, the sound of motor faded, which put an end to this afternoon. They were the persons only left in the stage.
“Is there anybody?” Though having known that there is nobody in the stage, Suzanne shouted outside the door, following the regulations on the brochure.
No one answered. She thus entered the male changing room and begins to do the cleaning.
When she cleaned the wardrobe, here came a man who was holding a helmet, entering the room. It was Jerry. He looks pretty handsome and resistant, his face shined in the twilight, which made him be like a hero who won a victory in the Middle Ages.
Opening the door, the man went towards his wardrobe and took off his suit, when he heard someone walking. It was so strange that made him wondered if there was somebody here. Being confused, Jerry looked around and saw Suzanne holding the bucket and a duster cloth.
“Gosh!” Suzanne shouted. The bucket was kicked and the dirty water spattered on Jerry. He cleaned himself angrily.
“What the fuck are you doing?... Is that you?!”
“Ah!” Awfully surprised, Suzanne covered her mouth and answered cautiously. “How could you be here, sir?”
Speaking no word, Jerry just looked at the woman in front of him. Suzanne smiled, embarrassed, seeing Jerry’s abs which were dirty. Worrying about being blamed, she promptly helped Jerry clean his shirt. “Sorry, sir. I didn’t expect that you would be here.”
“ Take away the cloth!” said Jerry, feeling annoyed.
Suzanne threw the cloth away right away, waiting to be upbraided. Everyone knows that Jerry is a man who is bad-tempered.
Jerry spared at her and said word by word: “Get out! Just waiting for me outside the door!”
Suzanne did so, taking the bucket and the cloth, being flustered. Seeing Suzanne go out, Jerry clamped his face, lumping it.
Outside the door, unsatisfied with what had happened this afternoon, Suzanne was still amazed at the appearance of Jerry, which was out of her expectation since she just did the part-time job at this weekend.
...
Before I further tell the story, it is necessary for me to say something about Jerry. He is the CEO of Mo Group and also the heir of the company. It is said that he is a billionaire who is cold as a diamond and deadly handsome but skirt-chasing. As for Suzanne, she is just a investigator of the market department. She would never be recognized by Jerry at all if she had not worked with him before, which at least she thought so.
...
The door was opened suddenly. Jerry stood in front of Suzanne, having taken a shower and changed clothes, with the fragrance of the shower gel. He then gave Suzanne a check signed 100,000.
“What does that mean?”
“Take the money, and do not let anyone know I’ve been here.”
“But it’s legal.” Suzanne blinked.
“Just keep it secret. Or you will be fired.”
“All right. I promise.” Suzanne agreed.
Satisfied, Jerry was to leave but soon stopped for he saw the necklace with a ring wore by Suzanne.
“Is that your ring?”
“It’s the heirloom.” said Suzanne.
“It is not allowed to wear such kind of cheap necklace. Keep it in mind.”
Suzanne nodded, though disagreed with him.
Jerry finally left with no more words.
Suzanne felt relaxed at once. “ Unnecessary move. But it’s nice to get the money!” she burbled. Then she touched the necklace with a ring which is in a strange shape. Because of the order, she had to take it away.
...
Jerry went back home quickly. He scarcely saw his sister Lily reading a book in the sofa when he entered the door.
“Where is grandpa?” asked Jerry.
“he went to the party held by Uncle Smith, for his grandson was admitted by MIT.”
He then went upstairs.
“Are you not going to have dinner?” asked Lily.
“I need to take a bath first.”
Smelling the fragrance on Jerry, Lily thought he must be with a girl just now, and just continued to read the book.
Making sure that Lily was reading books and did not notice him , Jerry went to grandpa’s study which was near the stairs.
In the room, there were a lot of valuable things, but they did not interest Jerry at this time. He was looking for a jewelry box covered with little villus and finally found it on the crystal box.
He cupped it carefully and opened it mustering his courage. What quietly lied in it was a ring which was the same with that of Suzanne. “It’s kidding me!” Looked astonished, he barely felt relieved took out the ring and threw it out of the window. “I would rather be blamed.”
...
After the dinner, Jerry asked Lily to play billiards together, and intended to wager $100,000 on one go. Sneering at her brother, Lily said: “If you really want to sponsor me, it’s better for you to stake one million dollars on the game and give me the chance to win.” At the moment she stopped talking, their grandpa came back, and the servants surged up to him.
“Grandpa comes back, and it is no need for me to give you the money.”
Having thrown the ring which would make him be blamed by grandpa, Jerry decided to go to his own room to escape from the query of grandpa. But grandpa stopped him and walked towards him hesitantly, calling him: “Jerry, I have something to tell you.” Jerry had to listen to him.
Seated in the sofa, the grandfather said: “I’ve made a decision. As you all know, I tried to find them, again and again, but just in vein. Now you are at the age of 28, which means it’s time for you to get married. I get older and older, and is in bad health, so I have to deal with the issue of your marriage as soon as possible. We’ve talked about this today, and your uncle Smith advised me to find a right person for you and I think it is a good idea. I think Grace of the He family is nice. How do you think?”
Jerry looked astonished. For the upper class like them, marriage is essentially an money transaction in many cases. He knew it clearly, so he didn't really mind it. When he was a little boy, he was told that he would in the future marry a girl who had an engagement with him. But before today, he knew nothing about that girl, so he fantasized about the unknown woman in cynicism.
But the reality made disappointed him. He just thought he could be free from the engagement, but here was such bad news. He would rather die than marry her!
"Grandpa, I will follow the agreement. I believe you will definitely find the person who has the ring." He smiled hypocritically.
"I hope so, but it was awfully difficult. If I could wait, I would like to look for her continually, but I have no much time. I have to get you married as soon as possible. I want to see my great-grandson before I die! "
"But Grandpa, there are so many people suitable for me in the circle, why did you not choose someone else? Why must it be Grace?"
"Since it is a marriage for economic transaction, we have to take full advantage of it. The He family has only one daughter, and if she marries you, their property will definitely belong to us!"
"Grandpa, you really deserve to be the founder of the Mo Group, but you don't recognize your six relatives at the business level. I'm your grandson, you can't treat me like this!"
"You have to pay for it if I can't complete the agreement. No need to think about you."
"Do you really want to marry Grace?" Lily expressed sympathy for her poor brother.
“No way. I'd rather marry anyone casually than marry her!"
