Chapter 01 : looking for work 1

My name is Ashley, I'm 26 years old. A fair-skinned girl. I live in the United States precisely in the city of Washington. Since my childhood my beauty amazed all my classmates and my teachers. Besides, I was smart and a bit bright. I also have a best friend named Emmy since high school.
Today we finished with the history of the school and we are in the perfumes of the active life. I am engaged to a handsome man named William. He is my man, he makes me everything I need... In short, he is my « lord » as they say...
After the studies it is the job, the work to have the daily bread. So for some time, I have been looking for work to do so as not to become a burden for my darling fiancé William.
Emmy: Hey honey, what's up?
Me : Nothing special my friend. I'm still looking for a job. Your guy is already giving me questioning looks at home like « this one thinks I'm the only one going to work? »
Emmy: Hmm, but he's right, isn't he? And then it's not as if he was forcing you, as far as I know you always wanted to be independent, no.
Me : Yes of course. I'm looking but it's even harder than I thought.
Emmy: But by the way, you don't know who I ran into a week ago? I was doing his wife's makeup for their wedding.
Me : Who is that?
Emmy: Do you remember our little wacky class who became stuttered when he saw you there? The one who wrote you a love letter that you had the whole class read.
Me : Oh, did I do that? hahahaha… I was mean. Of course I remember, what was his first name even?
Emma: Wesley. I didn't even recognize him, he was the one who spiked me. You know that in high school he was a bit weak, I tell you he has changed a lot.
Me : You too helpless a bit. What has he changed into?
Emmy: Well guess what, he has his own marketing company and it must work well given the car he drives. You should go apply there, he was eating out of your hand maybe he'll hire you.
Me : But you said he was getting married, didn't you?" I don't think it's eating out of my hand today.
Emmy: Ohh you leave me that. A man is a man he has you too much. And then you lose nothing by trying. I'll call him to talk to him first if you prefer.
Me : Hmm, so you even have his number.
With Emmy I spent the day chatting without seeing the time pass as usual. When paying the waitress tells us that the bill has been paid. We follow his gaze towards a pot-bellied old father, but what? His money is not pot-bellied no. We said thank you with a smile and we left hurrying.
Maybe the father there thought we were going to wait for him, he was ashamed. I jumped in my little Toyota and we left. I dropped Emmy off at her house and went home to the apartment I shared with my darling William.
This idea didn't mean too much to me and I vaguely remembered this Wesley. My God a boy had never lost his means so much in front of me. This Wesley was always in the top three of the class but every time he talked to me he stuttered, I had never seen that. He was losing all his means and that suited me since he didn't interest me at all. He wasn't my style at all.
One day he wrote me a letter that I vaguely remember saying something like: I see you when I close my eyes, I see you in my math notebook. The cheesy stuff, I couldn't resist showing it to Emmy who had insisted on showing it to the others and that's how the whole class had known.
I remember he didn't come to school the next day because of shame, poor thing. Today Emmy wants me to go see him to ask him for a job? But hey, I dare to believe that he forgot because it's been 12 years and since he's now married.
As I know you said, I wonder if it's worth going to see this Wesley after all I'm not complaining. I have the good life, a car, lots of fashionable clothes, a bank account quite full by my many flirts. But all that I owe to men, I never really had anything by myself.
But today I need to fulfill myself, to flourish as a qualified woman, I need to work. I get out of my car, it's hot as usual, my fiancé William's car isn't there. It's 7 p.m., he's probably not home from work yet.
I go up the stairs saying to myself I have to go see my uncle to whom I never told that I was looking for a job. I need a job, no matter how small. In the house, I take a look in the fridge and see that the housewife has prepared. I hear a key in the lock of the door, it's him.
William: Good evening my baby
Me: Hello darling.
He takes me in his arms and kisses me tenderly as usual. It smells good even after a day of work.
Me: How was your day?
William: Tiring as usual and what did you do with your day? Are your research progressing?
I didn't really like him asking me this question, I had the impression that he was putting pressure on me, but with good reason.
Me: Not really, but tomorrow I'll go to my uncle's. On the other hand I saw Emmy today, she told me about one of our former classmates who manages her communication company. Maybe I'll go visit him with my file.
William: Well you're right, you shouldn't neglect any track but above all don't put pressure on yourself my baby. I like to come home and find you at home, I can still take care of both of us.
He smiled at me, I loved this man, he was very protective and reassuring. I freed him from his briefcase and took off his jacket. We spent a nice quiet evening eating and watching TV in each other's arms before going to bed at 10 p.m.
The next morning when I got up, William had already left. I freshened up, had my breakfast and got dressed. I put on a white suit dress, I had to be more elegant than usual. At that moment my phone rang, Emmy.
Me: Hello Miss Emmy?
Emmy: yes my darling how is it?
Me: I'm here say so, here I am going to work.
Emmy: You're right, looking for a job is a job too. Well I was just calling you to tell you that I had Wesley on the phone to tell him about your job search and to ask if he was hiring.
Me: Ok and what did he say?
Emmy: Well he told me that he wasn't recruiting at the moment but that you could come and see him at his office, that he would see what he could do.
Me: What could he do? I'm not asking for charity my dear. In addition a former classmate I do not want things to shame eh my girlfriend.
Emmy: Ashley, you too will just you never know. When we look for the job we look everywhere, it's waiting for you this morning at 10 am. I'll text you his phone number and address. Excuse me darling, undermine yourself well eh, you put my breasts there in value you know it works every time.
We burst out laughing on the phone.
Me: Ok why don't you know me? Send stuff there I'll see. I have to go see my uncle and thank you again devil's advocate.
Emmy: You're welcome my beautiful, insult me only but you keep me informed, we call each other in the afternoon. See you later.
I hung up, I didn't feel like going to see this Wesley Bankolé at all. You kinda see when you had a classmate in high school who only died behind you and you ignored him and years later you just beg him for a job, right?
It would make me uncomfortable but Emmy had arranged the date for me so it was ungrateful of me not to go. I put on my favorite pair of black high heels and headed downstairs to see my uncle.
On the way I received the text message from Emmy with the address and the number of this famous Wesley which I did not even bother to register. I parked in front of my uncle's house, whom I forgot to call before coming. I should have given him a call.
I took my phone to call his number and after the greetings my uncle let me know that he is not in town but he promised to call me as soon as he gets back. So what was I going to do now? I was well dressed and everything.
Should I go to Wesley? Oh after all what did I have to lose. I didn't come to beg him for a job, I was applying to a company director, it's completely normal.
I take a look at my watch 10:20, Hmmm I'm late. It is true that I had not really planned to go there. Well I'm not going home now I'm going. I drive around trying to remember as much of him as possible, his face, his mannerisms. It's crazy that we are from the same generation and he already has a flourishing company?
So you see the teenagers in high school who often think they're the prettiest and coolest in the class, there they are always the ones who end up unemployed professionals. But the nerds there, those who were always dirty with rare shoes on their feet, they are the ones who tomorrow become CEO. Like what let's stop believing that high school is real life, anyway.
I arrive in front of the building that Emmy indicated to me and I park. I glance in my front mirror and powder myself a bit. I grab my briefcase and get out of my car to enter the building.
I go to the reception, advertising posters of different brands brighten up the room. I recognize several advertisements and I discover that they were made by this company. I ask to see Mr. Wesley.
"You have an appointment?" asks the lady at the reception.
Me: yes, I'm late.
« You have an appointment ? » asks the lady at the reception.
Me: yes, I'm late.
She makes a quick phone call and gives me a 4th floor pass. I thank her and take the elevator, I start to panic a little, I who usually feel so sure of myself. On the 4th floor, at the exit of the elevator, I walk towards another lady who has been visibly warned of my arrival.
« Mrs. come in, he's waiting for you » pointing to a door.
I push open this door and find myself in a large, very cold office. At the back of the room I see a young man sitting on a large brown desk chair. He did not look up, I immediately noticed that he is wearing a slightly unbuttoned shirt that reveals a gold necklace on the beginning of a muscular chest. An impressive charisma emanates from him.
Finally he raises his head towards me and I lose all my means. God he is beautiful! He gets up, walks around his desk and approaches me. He is very tall at least 1m90 and despite my high heels, I was not his height. He walks over to me and smiles as he holds out his hand.
Wesley: Hello Ashley.
And here I am in front of him with a dead and villainous voice.
Me: Hi...hello Wesley.
To be continued......
